Certified Speech-language pathologists assess and treat persons with speech, language, voice, fluency and swallowing problems.
Certified Audiologists assess and treat persons with hearing and balance problems, fit hearing aids, program cochlear implants and provide auditory rehabilitation.
Undergraduates obtain an overview of speech production and perception, articulation, fluency, hearing, language and voice. Courses provide foundations for understanding normal and abnormal communication processes over the lifespan as well as methods of prevention and treatment.
There is one Bachelor of Arts (BA) available with this degree.
Students who complete graduate studies in these fields may work in medical, clinical, school, military, government or private practice settings.
Provide a knowledge of speech sound acquisition and treatment.
Address normal language acquisition and methods for assessing and treating language disorders.
