Candidates for the BM in Music History and Literature degree typically enjoy an insatiable curiosity that compels them to read widely and draw connections between a variety of fields. Although the program is inherently interdisciplinary, students are encouraged to cultivate their own musicianship by taking applied lessons, performing in ensembles, and taking rigorous coursework in music history, theory, and literature.
Foreign language study and strong writing and critical thinking skills are expected of successful candidates.
