Music BA

The Bachelor of Arts degree in Music provides a firm foundation in music and the liberal arts.

When You Think Music, Think Southern Miss

The Bachelor of Arts degree in Music provides a firm foundation in music and the liberal arts. This is accomplished through applied lessons (one-on-one training with professors), participation in major ensembles (band, choir, jazz band, or orchestra), and an array of music history and theory classes.

The uniqueness in this degree, however, is found in the number of electives it holds. The electives make this degree a perfect option for a person interested in double majoring in music and another discipline.

  • MUS 199: Success for Music Majors. An introduction to being a music major. Course will focus on skills needed to be a successful music major, performer and teacher.
  • Applied Private Lessons. Hour-long, one-on-one lesson with a professional performer/faculty member.
  • Music Theory. A wide range of courses with various levels of concentration
