Textiles is one component of the Merchandising degree program.

Merchandising is a hands-on major designed to prepare students for careers in all areas related to retailing and product development.

What Do Our Graduates Do?

Learn about product development, textiles, sustainability of products, product distribution, retail store management, retail buying, the history of clothing and merchandising around the world. Sit in classes with retail professionals and take on real-life merchandising challenges. Merchandising is a small major with a lot of personal attention.

Students take:

  • Applied Merchandising, which covers store planning and design, financial planning and negotiations in an experiential setting.
  • Apparel Product Development, which studies product mix planning, sales forecasting, pricing and production methods.
  • Societal Influences on Consumer Behavior, which studies consumer psychology with an eye toward the social settings in which people buy and use products.
