After completing required initial sequences in a language such as SPA 101, you will take more skills-oriented or content-based courses such as "Advanced Conversation"; "Hispanic Film"; " French in the Americas"; "Spanish in the Americas"; "Food as Culture"; and "Hispanic Daily Life."

Students choose either Spanish or French and in addition to language classes, take courses in educational psychology; classroom management; general methods of teaching, testing and assessment; foundations in education; and special education. Upon graduation, students are licensed to teach K-12 language classes in the state of Mississippi.
After completing introductory Spanish language classes, students majoring in Spanish choose from a wide variety of electives in Spanish language, culture, linguistics, and literature.
Our foreign language majors are currently working as teachers, interpreters, translators, culture and travel reporters, lawyers, editors and writers.
Spend 5 weeks or a semester and earn credits in the language studied.
